Description Tamas Baka 2009-07-07 08:50:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I often copy a CMS from a local ext3 partition through sftp to my server. I selected 4 directories with 63 subdirectories total and a total of 533 files. The size was about 2.3MB

After copying in 1 of about 20 cases the contents of some subdirectories were missing at the destination. The file count was less, but the directories were created (just empty)

Thanks god I had a backup after I realized this.

This happened multiple times and could hrt a lot of users. Maybe this is in connection with the password pop-up?

Please look into it.

Thanks

What do you mean with "the password pop-up" ?
Comment 2 Tamas Baka 2009-07-07 09:59:21 UTC
I mean that when I copy to an ftp or sftp server, a window pops up to ask for my password (which is already stored - it is quite annoying). If I don't see it and leave it there in the background for some time, copying often just fails completely.
Comment 3 FiNeX 2009-07-07 10:53:52 UTC
So, the situation is:
1) open the (local) origin folder on dolphin, select and copy the files
2) open the remote destination folder (ftp/sftp server)
-> at this point you should insert the password (*)
3) you start the paste action

Now I've not understand when the password dialog appears:
A) after some time, while copying
or:
B) just when you start the paste action
?

Thanks for your report Tamas!

(*) there is a bug (at least in trunk) which raise two password dialog instead of one, I don't remember if it has already been reported, I'll have to check.

Multiple password dialogs is just bothersome (I made another bug report about this earlier), but the fact that a few files were not copied is dangerous...

Is this still an issue with the latest stable version of KDE, which at the moment is v4.10.4?
