What I was doing when the application crashed:
I left my computer for approximately 5 hours or so, still logged in. The computer was essentially doing nothing in the meantime (no downloads, no cpu-intensive task running in the background). When I got back, the screen-saver was running as it should (ktux if it's important). After that was dismissed I saw a notice about plasma having crashed.
