Description pavelfric 2009-07-05 12:08:37 UTC
Version: 2.2 (using KDE 4.2.4)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

I would appreciate the frequency analyzer(s) of various types in the context window.

Analyzers not yet support in Phonon (afaik).
Comment 2 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-02-19 01:12:31 UTC
Well, then you should either send this to Phonon or subscribe somebody, closing it is not really helpful.
Sandsmark, any comments?

Hi! I'm the guy who creates this idea in kde brainstorm:
http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php#idea86329_page1

As I said in the comments at that post, the clementine app (Amarok 1.4 ported to Qt4) use phonon and they have the old analyzer working well also. So it's look for me that is possible to do the analyzer with or without phonon support (the prove is that clementine can and is fully cross-platform).

Maybe clementine's code could be helpful.

Thank you very much. I hope to be useful with this.
Comment 4 Martin Sandsmark 2010-03-06 16:31:32 UTC
AFAIK, Clementine only supports analyzers on Linux, where it uses xine-lib. On the platforms it uses Phonon, it doesn't support analyzers.

There is support in the latest Phonon for audio data output, however, so it just needs someone to implement this in Amarok.

I agree. Someone recently wrote, that he was quieted using graphical equalizer - all the jumping, up and down. :-) It will bring great advantage and blessing for our health.
Comment 6 pavelfric 2010-04-18 21:51:54 UTC
That man wrote graphical equalizer, but the proper word for it is frequency analyzer, isn't it? :-)
Comment 7 Daniel Dewald 2010-05-13 00:52:06 UTC
I'm already working on a frequency analyzer applet (see https://www.time-shift.de/wordpress/?p=29). It will still take some time though yet since Phonon is a pain in the ass when it comes to the audioDataOutput. Maybe it will be in the next or so release if I get the time to complete it. Same goes for visualization.
Comment 8 Daniel Dewald 2010-08-09 23:49:30 UTC
I'm happy to announce that my frequency analyzer applet is working now ;o). There are a few bumps I have to iron out and some work has to be done in the phonon backends but it won't be long now till this gets pushed into trunk. So stay tuned ;o).

I congratulate. I am really lucky to hear about it from you. :-) Be happy, and lucky Summer according to your interests. :-)

Well its been over 4 Month now and its doesn't look like the Backend guys are ever going to support this reasonable. As I'm not willing to keep up with changing Amarok code and rewrite a lot of stuff in my analyzer just to keep it compileable I wouldn't hold my breath.. doesn't look like the analyzer will be pushable any time soon. Sorry.
Comment 12 Daniel Dewald 2012-01-06 13:16:19 UTC
Spectrum analyzer is available in Amarok now. Can be closed.
Comment 13 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-01-06 22:13:24 UTC
Implemented in Amarok 2.5
