Description Frédéric COIFFIER 2009-07-02 21:42:14 UTC
Version: 1.0.0-beta1 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When I import images from a memory card (not tested with a camera), images are not sorted (neither by name, neither by date). So, it's difficult to find new images to download.

There is a icon to identify new image not already downloaded.

Try beta2 (current code from svn). You can change ordering by date.

Could this be related to bug 187810 ? Regards

The problem is that we only allow to sort by date, which doesn't work sometimes when you import images from filesystem folders (because those images where not created by a camera or simply are movies).
We should have some kind of fallback if no date can be extracted, so that images are at least sorted by name. Most cameras have an increasing numbering scheme, so that you still can have the most recent files on top of the iconview.
My camera for example has the ability to turn date writing off, so in this case cameraUI fails on sorting images.

The original complaint from beta1 is probably fixed, we sort by date.
Keeping as wishlist item to sort by file name (to be implemented when using a proper model)

Frédéric,

As Marcel said in #4. Please Check digiKam 1.0.0 final release out few days ago.
