Version: (using KDE 4.2.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Fedora RPMs I have kde4 configured this way: a) One desktop activity b) Desktop activity Type Folder View What I did: 1) I right click on the panel and (mistakenly) clicked on "Remove this Panel" 2) I confirmed i want to remove the Panel (what I really wanted was to remove a widget, but I misread the option) Now I had the desktop but not the panel. What I did to readd the panel: 1) searched for an option on the desktop, but there was nothing (NB: I have Desktop activity Type Folder View) 2)clicked on the "cashew" 3) searched half an hour with google and discovered Alt + F2 to open konsole, how to restart plasma from the command line and a bit of other things (how to ireadd a launcher to the panel, the taskbar is just an applet and so on) 4) moved my plasma-appletsrc to plasma-appletsrc.orig and restarted plasma as found on google 5) discovered that with Desktop Activity Type "Desktop" there is Add Panel (and Run Command and Konsole...) in the context menu of the desktop 6) moved plasma-appletsrc.orig back to plasma-appletsrc 7) restarted plasma 8) on the right click menu readded the panel (and then moved it to the bottom of the screen, readded the launcher, the clock, the taskbar and so on) 9) reselected in Appearence settings Desktop Activity Type "Folder View" What was wrong (IMO at least): I think that readding the panel should be easier than what described with steps 1-9 PS: I don't really know if this is a bug or a whishlist. I choosed bug thinking of a usability bug. Sorry if I was wrong
Hi, I think there was a misunderstanding with the changed title. What i meant with readd was "add again" or re-add, not read... Ciao
This is fixed in KDE4.3: bug 174254 Now the rightclick menu when using the FolderView-desktoptype shows the Add Panel option too. Thanks *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 174254 ***
