Description Bobby 2009-07-01 20:00:44 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.90)
Compiler: GCC 4.3
OS: Linux

This is a real funny bug. i experienced it first in the last beta but it's also presen in the RC. i was using Firefox when all of a sudden the window started to stretch vertically. I thought that it was a firefox bug at first but then i experienced it on all other KDE programmes that I use. I even experience the start menu contracting by itself until it was only a thin stripe.

are you using wobbly windows?

Yes I am. Could that be the problem? It was all okay up to 4.2.4.

I only get this behaviour if I enable wobbly windows for resizing and maximize/restore windows. That includes opening of windows which are maximized. Can you confirm that behaviour?

As I have no idea about the code I CC the authors of the effect and the resizing part.

This certainly sounds like the wobbly window effect going wrong, but Ive not been able to reproduce the problem.

What other effects do you have turned on?

"opening of windows which are maximized" - does that mean minimizing, then unminimizing them? That seems ok for me, both with and without the "magic lamp" and "animate minimize" effect.

I'm also having this in 4.3.0. I can reproduce this with maximising/restoring any window, in Lancelot menu and vertical panel setting window, only if "Wobbliness" setting is maximised and "Wobble when rezising" setting is on.

Hope this helps...
Comment 6 Toby Dickenson 2009-08-19 08:57:52 UTC
OK, I can reproduce and will investigate
Comment 7 Martin Flöser 2009-12-06 19:19:37 UTC
I haven't noticed the issue for quite some time in my development setup, so I assume that it is fixed. If you are able to reproduce with KDE SC 4.4 please reopen.

I haven't noticed it since KDE 4.3 or maybe even a bit earlier.
