Description bugsrep 2009-07-01 02:16:36 UTC
Version: 2.1.0 (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), 4.2.4-2.fc11 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.i586

I still think there is a bug.
"Show system tray icon" checkbox is empty.

1) I start KGpg from KMenu and then press the Close button, the main window
disappears but the tray icon is not shown.
2) I start KGpg form KMenu again. This time the main window is not shown.
Instead the tray icon is visible. If I click on it to open the main window,
then press Quit, both the main window and the tray icon disappear.

I have almost the same problem. My kgpg window only appears once and the systray icon never appears even when the main window is on the desktop. I already tried to disable and re-enable the checkbox for the systray settings. It still has no effect on the visibility of the icon. When I close the main windows kgpg is gone completely. I can start it from the menu or type the command in a console but neither the window nor the systray icon appear. I know that the program is running because the system monitor and the ps command show it. The only way to see the main window again is to delete the file '.kde4/share/config/kgpgrc'.
But then it starts over again. The window stays as long as I don't click the close button and still no icon in the systray. When I choose to start kgpg with my kde session it never shows up but is running.

Im using kgpg version 2.2.0 with KDE 4.3 on ArchLinux.

When the systray icon is enabled (the default with empty config file) make
sure to expand the systray to show the inactive icons. As long as systray icon
is enabled there should be no problem. The only problem known to me is when
systray is deactivated as the windows then go into stealth mode when closed.

I tried that. There is no way to expand the systray because there are only 2-3 icons in there and no inactive icons either. The problem is that kgpg never shows the icon in the systray. Even if I delete the config file and restart kgpg after I killed the previous process. Its only the main window that appears with that little wizard asking for some config settings like paths. I know how the icon should look (the yellow lock) as Ive seen it in kde 4.2 but now its just not there.

Ok my problem is solved now and it was exactly like you said. I had to expand the systray but the desktop style (plasma theme or whatever) that I used did not show the expand button. Im now back to oxygen style and now I can see kgpg's systray icon after expanding the systray. My bad! Im very sorry bothering you. Thanks for the help :)

Will the 'hidden' property of the kgpg systray icon be fixed? I was planning to file a bugreport, but I see it's already mentioned in this one.

My problem (or 'the bug') is that I configured systray to actually /show/ the kgpg icon, but systray treats it as hidden. That's a bug, not a feature in my understanding.

If you set this to be always visible and it is not this sounds like a bug, but probably in the systray code or plasma applet and should be filed there.
