Description Micael Capitão 2009-06-30 22:30:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc 4.4.0
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

I found some related bugs but I think none is exactly mine...

I have my laptop configured to use powerdevil. I configured 3 energy profiles. When running on AC power I have Performance, when on battery I have powersave and when battery reaches 25% Xtreme Powersave.
My performance profile is set to standby the display after 5 minutes and the other 2 profiles are set for 2 minutes. The other display options (suspend and power off) are disabled.
When I unplug the AC and reconnect it everything works perfectly and does what it is configured to do. The problem is when I start up my computer, the performance profile is the default (for AC power). If I didn't switch to other power profile, the display doesn't standby after the 5 minutes. If I switch to other profile (the display standby) and then return again to the Performance profile everything works as it should be.
Conclusion: the screen just turns off if I switch the power profile. If I do not switch, it doesn't turns off.

If I set the display to standby with xset it works.
I'm using archlinux x86_64 with catalyst 9.6.
Since I remember I always had that problem.

Thanks!

I have the same problems here with openSUSE 11.1 and the Factory packages for KDE4 (at the moment KDE 4.3 RC2 4.2.96)

So, that is a problem that continues with kde 4.3...
It is not a big problem but it's boring!
Comment 3 Dmitriy 2009-10-30 19:34:37 UTC
Still exist in KDE 4.3.1 release 6 openSUSE 11.2 RC2.

Still there in 11.2 Final and KDE 4.3.3. My screen goes only off at the time specified in "systemsettings - display". It ignores the times that are specified in the powerdevil profiles.

Try to delete ~/.kde4 folder. You'll lose all your kde settings. Make a backup first if you want to reverte your changes.
I did this some time ago and it solved the problem.

It's enough to delete those two powerdevil related config files at .kde4/share/config

Works ;)
