Version: onbekend (using 4.2.90 (KDE 4.2.90 (KDE 4.3 Beta2)) "release 138", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-48-pae When clicking a link in Kontact, KDE briefly opens a "making contact with website..." job. I've configured the notification area not to auto-hide jobs, because I like to have an overview that something is still going on. Unfortunately, that causes these "making contact" (guess doing a DNS query / mimetype checking) to stay open as well, as if they are really important. IMHO these notifications should always auto hide.
This is probably a wishlist item. Feel free to protest if you think that this is a bug
Each time I open a link from KMail (e.g. this bug report) I have to click the notification away. That does make it quite annoying.
True, even though i still don't think it's really a bug.. but i might be wrong
It's up to the applications using KNotify to decide which notifications to show, though there is a possibility that this would need to be fixed at a lower level (say the kio slave).
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
