Description David Rankin 2009-06-29 03:00:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.90)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

digiKam
Version 1.0.0-beta1
Using KDE 4.2.90 (KDE 4.2.90 (KDE 4.3 Beta2)) "release 139"

For some reason, digikam will not connect to our old Kodak CX7300 camera in KDE4. I have used this camera 100s of times with digikam on kde3 and I have never had any problems. After upgrading to kde4, I can no longer connect.

After configuring digikam with the correct camera model .. and .. also letting digikam "Auto Detect" the camera, the download pictures window just appears and sits there. It never changes. See the following screenshot:

Something is messed up. Let me know if I can provide additional information

Here is the connection information from syslog:

Jun 28 19:48:29 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 6
Jun 28 19:48:30 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jun 28 19:48:30 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=040a, idProduct=0578
Jun 28 19:48:30 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

Jun 28 19:48:30 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: SerialNumber:
Jun 28 20:03:51 alchemy kernel: usb 1-2: USB disconnect, address 6

(the disconnect was from me unplugging it after digikam would not download anything)

Curiously, the device summary information is blank:

Can be relevant of libgphoto2 issue.

But, to be sure, try current code from svn (beta2) where an infinite loop have been fixed to list item from icon view.

Best

Is the camera, when plugged in, available from "Import -> Cameras (auto-detected)"? Same behavior when opening from the entry?
Please post the console output of digikam while you try to connect to your camera. Ensure debug code 50003 is enabled using kdebugdialog.

New digiKam 4.11.0 is available.

Can you reproduce the problem with this release ?

With digiKam 5.0.0, this problem is not reproducible.
