works fine here. you should check whether there isn't a user-defined ~/.face.icon which would take precedence according to the "face source" setting. other than that, i know that distributors like to completely replace kdm's avatar configuration system, so it might well be a distribution-specific problem. please reopen if you have new info which indicates an actual upstream problem.
To make it clearer: I can select users picture very well, and normal. But the result is, that there is no resulting change in user's picture, or the result is other picture than selected.
