Description Dotan Cohen 2009-06-25 21:15:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.90)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

The user can only find out how to add global shortcuts after rightclicking in a non-obvious place in system settings. This is not The Legend of Zelda, the user cannot be expected to left- and right- click on every possible element to find what he needs. The option for adding global shortcuts should be made more obvious.

I really do not have a solution at the moment, but I am identifying a problem. Either myself or someone else will please post possible solutions in the comments.

Thanks.

This is the proper location for this. However, it is probably not the
best choice of titles. But, that wouldn't be a great issue if the list
of subtitles was completed.

However, there is a usability issue: there are two places that you can
set Global Keyboard Shortcuts for KHotKeys. This is not good from a
usability point of view. Also, you cannot add Shortcuts where you
normally set the keys for them. :-(

Suggested solution is to combine: "Input Actions" with "Keyboard & Mouse".

I am advised that there is a right click menu, so I should expand my comments.

Adding additional Global HotKey actions should be moved to: "Mouse & Keyboard".

Perhaps the functionality to add new gesture functions should go in "Accessability" since "Gestures" is already there.

The rest of the functions seem to belong in the "Advanced" section.

The right click menu is not good. But the major issue is consistency. Other lists have a way to add and remove items from the list without using a right click menu. We need a way to do that with new Hot Key and Gesture input actions.

Reassigning... I think the Product is correct but the comments and description are not clear on the module in question.

There's an "Edit" button below the list (no idea since when)
