From bug 219954: --- What I was doing when the application crashed: After sucessfully added the rss feed for new comments on this blog: http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/ I click "update all feeds" and many unreadable entries appeared for that feed. Some seconds later Akregator crashed. On restart the new feed was absent, re-enabling it gave the same behaviour.

AFAIK the only things it is configured to do in the background is Kmail mail checking and Akgregator feed checking.

From bug 233456: - What I was doing when the application crashed: After a few hours, Akregator's indexing goes wrong and one of the feeds shows -1 total (so 0 unread means there's one unread. Then undated duplicate entries appear at the top of the list of articles (usually all the same article - there were about 10 when I looked at 03.00, then by 06.00 Kontact had crashed. This bug has been around for months through several versions of KDE 4.

On my system this crash (with stacktrace exactly the same as already filed on this bug) can be generated with 100% probability after following steps: 1. Add new RSS feed from Linux Developer Foundation <http://ldn.linuxfoundation.org/rss.xml>. For some reason Akregator doesn't fetch this feed immediately on adding, so it shows 0 articles. 2. Fetch this one feed manually. It shows 10 unread article titles, but clicking on an article doesn't show anything in the content pane. Nevertheless, you have to click on the titles to produce the crash on step 3. 3. Fetch this one feed manually again. Akregator crashes. In case this behaviour depends on the exact contents of the feed, I have downloaded XML as it stands now. I can attach it here, if requested. System details: Kububtu 10.10, KDE 4.5.5 (from ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa), Akregator 1.6.5

Two commits were just pushed and possibly fix two crashes. https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim/repository/revisions/387d6cd94e50ae5354bc1636bb4e67075ca5f5b8 and https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim/repository/revisions/9c6e07dc5a116d54cdaaeb66d0fa99805da67daf Both will be in KDE 4.7.4 and 4.8beta2. If you have a reliable way to reproduce the crash, please test with one of these versions and report back. Thanks.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of akregator (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
I've reinstalled since to bug report, kubuntu 14.04 LTS seems to be working fine
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
