Description David Rankin 2009-06-23 12:39:08 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.2.90)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

When setting the default search engine for konqueror web browsing in konqueror -> settings -> Web Shortcuts; konquerorrc is NOT updated with the selection. I selected AltaVista saved, restarted konqueror and my search choice in the search toolbar never changed. Looking more closely at ~/.kde4/share/config/konquerorrc, the searchbar provider was still set to google:

[SearchBar]
CurrentEngine=google

This despite having the setting in configure konqueror set to AltaVista:

http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/kde4/screenshots/konqueror-search-default.jpeg

Right-Clicking the search bar and choosing "Select Search Engines...." had NO effect either.

It was only after Right-Clicking the search bar and picking "AltaVista" (or any other provider) from the DROP DOWN LIST that the search provider was properly updated in the searchbar and the default written to konquerorrc.

There be a bug somewhere ;-)

Here using:

Qt: 4.5.1 (qt-copy  971295)
KDE: 4.2.92 (KDE 4.2.92 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090617))
kdelibs svn rev. 984425 / kdebase svn rev. 984427
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.4

The default search engine is saved to "~/.kde4/share/config/kuriikwsfilterrc"
And it is saved and reloaded properly in Konqueror

Thanks
