Description Rasmus Steinke 2009-06-21 12:41:52 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

On very first start of kde, desktop effects get enabled just fine, but with lots of errors: the screen simply does not update.
I have to trigger updates manually, e.g. by hitting alt+tab.

turning off composite or switching to Xrender mode solves this.

When i try to turn opengl mode back on, the screen simply goes black and i can only kill X.

This is happening since 4.3 beta2 (maybe earlier) and is still present in a snapshot from today.

System: Arch 64bit, tried several precompiled trunk binaries - all have the same behavior.

nvidia GeForce 7600 GT graphic card. Tried with both: latest stable and beta driver.

Kernel 2.6.30

I am not sure what informations i should collect to help resolving this issue...

What was the latest version of KDE that worked fine? How long ago was this? Have you tried older/newer drivers?
Comment 2 Rasmus Steinke 2009-06-21 14:02:37 UTC
i am relatively certain it worked with beta1... i tried newer drivers but not old ones, since they dont seem to work with kernel 2.6.30?
Comment 3 Rasmus Steinke 2009-06-21 14:03:30 UTC
have to say, the time i used beta1 was on kernel 2.6.29 with older drivers, so this might be the issue.. sadly i cant downgrade anymore... and 4.2.4 still works fine on this setup...

Comment 5 Martin Flöser 2009-09-06 15:15:08 UTC
