Version: (using KDE 4.2.4) Compiler: gcc version 4.3.3 (Gentoo 4.3.3-r2 p1.1, pie-10.1.5) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages Hello, after a login all notes are not in the order as they were while logging out. notes/libkcal-1786219225.667 says the position should be: 480,463 But it is: 637,0 Another note: It should be 636,758, but is: 848.90 I am using NVIDIA Twinhead with 2* 1280x1024 Thanks Tobi
Same problem here. I wanted to note (no pun intended :) that KNotes seems to be remembering the size and position of at least some windows but confusing their content. On login, some note windows will appear in the size and position that I left them in but the window will contain the wrong note text (swapped with another window). I've also noticed that often two notes will restore to the exact same size and position as each other, such that one completely obscures the other (only one had that size and position when I logged out; the other was different). Curiously, this seems to happen to only two notes every time regardless of how many total there are.
Ray: which version of knotes do you use?
(In reply to comment #2) > Ray: which version of knotes do you use? My work laptop is running 3.9 (Fedora 15) and I do still have this problem there. I will check my home system later and let you know the version. However, I'm not 100% certain that the problem occurs there -- this issue may have been fixed since 3.9/F15 ?
I forgot to mention earlier: my laptop is running KDE 4.6.5 My home system is running KNotes 4.8.5 on KDE 4.8.5 (Fedora 16). Again, I'm not certain if the problem is happening on my home system. I do have a bunch of closed notes and when I opened them all a moment ago they all seemed to have the correct size/position. I will try leaving a few open over the next few days and report back if I see the problem happening. Thanks, ~ray
Okay, first boot on my home machine and I can confirm that the problem is still happening with 4.8.5. I left 4 notes open when I shut-down, with different content, colors, shapes and sizes. Content and colors were the same on the new boot but sizes and positions were shuffled around.
Thank you for the fast feedback.
For me when it messes up, the positions for most notes are at the top left of the screen. It seams to mess up randomly for notes when doing Hide All Notes / Show All Notes. I turned off Compiz(kwin --replace), and now all but one note shrinks vertically every time a 'Hide All Notes' / 'Show All Notes' is done. When Compiz is turned back on, the notes no longer have the shrinking vertically problem, until Compiz is turned off with kwin --replace... KUbuntu 12.04.1 KDE 4.8.5 64 bit
I've posted a bug about the vertical shrinking problem: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311736 (In reply to comment #7) > For me when it messes up, the positions for most notes are at the top left > of the screen. > It seams to mess up randomly for notes when doing Hide All Notes / Show All > Notes. > I turned off Compiz(kwin --replace), and now all but one note shrinks > vertically every time a 'Hide All Notes' / 'Show All Notes' is done. I can't reproduce this with KDE 4.10: Dual screen setup, one Lenovo X220 laptop 1366.768, one external monitor 1920x1200. all notes activated and stay at the correct place on log out and log in from KDE. Using the internal Intel graphics of the laptop.

Using the internal Intel graphics of the laptop. This may be related to 'Rich Edit' mode, as well as Compiz. KNotes notes change sizes when in 'Rich Edit' mode, and expands the window size. instead of making the internal part smaller like most apps(when adding a toolbar, etc...), KNotes keeps the internal part the same size(the text area) Note: I think KNotes should work like most apps for this, and shrink the text area to keep the window size the same To turn off/on Rich text: Right click on note -> Preferences -> Editor -> 'Rich text' See also: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311736
