Description Herman Viaene 2009-06-17 10:48:46 UTC
Version: 0.8 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs

In previous versions of mahjongg (with KDE3) there was a feature to display a stack of removed tiles on the right side of the playing window. I miss this sorely in the KDE4 version

I agree this is an useful setting that should return to the KDE 4 version.
Comment 2 Philip Webb 2009-09-28 15:02:03 UTC
I'm very glad to hear there is an intention to restore this option.
Without it I find Kmahjongg not worth playing: it's a quick fun game,
but should not be a test of memory as well. Looking forward to 4.4.1 (smile).

It's now more than 2 years since the last comment on this simple feature request. All that seems to be needed is for someone familiar with KDE 4 libraries + code to look at how KDE 3.5 handled this & modify the code to allow it to work with KDE 4. Is this very difficult ? It really does spoil the game not to know which tiles have been removed.

Now it's 2015 and there's no attention to this yet. Showing removed tiles is not cheating and sometimes it is important when you need to know if you have remaining tiles of a certain kind left. Please restore this feature in Plasma 5! Thank you!

Almost two years after my last comment, and yet no progress... would you please add this feature which was present in KDE 3??
Comment 6 Frederik Schwarzer 2017-07-23 11:16:54 UTC
KDE is volunteer-driven. If somebody comes up with some extra time and decides to spend it on implementing this feature, it will happen. Otherwise, it will not. :)

KMahjongg has no maintainer, so noone is actively watching over its reports and status. That's unfortunate but still, it is how it is.

How should this feature look? I don't know the old versions with that feature implemented, so maybe someone can give me a short picture of how it should be look.

Greetings

I have sent a selection of images of the KDE 3 version of Mahjongg
to Christian in a separate e-mail.

It would be sensible to get a copy of the source for that version
as a starting-point for restoring this very useful feature.

Thanks to Christian & anyone else who is willing to work on it.

Added a removed_tile feature. Not like the old one, but hopefully this will be ok for everyone.
