Version: 2.0 (using KDE 4.2.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages this happened shortly after Dvd playback started A Fatal Error Occurred The application Dragon Player (dragon) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV). Please help us improve the software you use by filing a report at http://bugs.kde.org. Useful details include how to reproduce the error, documents that were loaded, etc. Unable to create a valid backtrace. This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.
If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? You need to install the "kdemultimedia-dbg" package. Thanks
ok i have installed the package and have reproduced this crash easily by trying to watch texas chainsaw massacre, store bought dvd, about 11 seconds into playback it crashes, in order of events: insert dvd > last plugged in device pops up > i click the dvd > autoplay options > play with dragon player > dragon player opens and i have to manually tell it to play from disc > and 11 seconds in it crashes. i was watching in konsole it was having read errors when trying to go to the title menu? i hope this helps, i am still a little new to linux Thread 15 (Thread 0x7f431bf90950 (LWP 4345)): #0 0x00007f432ac8bede in ?? a back up copy of the goonies seemed to play fine, however it has no copyright protection on the disc, i think this may be some kind of copyright protection on the disc that dragon player can't read? vlc player said it couldn't read one of the blocks and didn't play, maybe this is the cause of the problem??
sorry i clicked the wrong thing and have to post this to fix it...
Sorry for taking too long to comment on this bug. Has this crash only happened to that specific DVD? If so, maybe the disc was faulty. Were you able to watch it in any player or physical DVD player? Is you can still reproduce this crash (specially with the -dbg packages installed, as described in http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports), please post a more detailed backtrace here.
You need to install the "kdemultimedia-dbg" and "phonon-dbg" packages. Thanks
with other dvds that have copyright protections yes it has crashed, as i said a back-up copy of the goonies played fine, i will install the phonon-dbg and generate another crash report and post it here as well, when i get home.
this is with a different movie called becool and yes i have tried vlc player and it doesn't play the movies either, i don't believe this is dragon player itself anymore, but the dvd playback codec that comes with kubuntu, this i cannot be positive of. however from the look of it to me i think it has to do with xineplug_inp_dvd.so gdb run *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:1640 *** *** for pgcit->pgci_srp[i].pgc_start_byte + PGC_SIZE <= pgcit->last_byte+1 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:1640 *** *** for pgcit->pgci_srp[i].pgc_start_byte + PGC_SIZE <= pgcit->last_byte+1 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:671 *** *** for pgc->program_map_offset != 0 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:672 *** *** for pgc->cell_playback_offset != 0 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:673 *** *** for pgc->cell_position_offset != 0 *** libdvdnav: ifoRead_PGCIT failed libdvdnav: *** pgci_ut handle is NULL *** Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. It is crashing in Xine code: 0x00007f1eb026eede in ?? () from /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.26/xineplug_inp_dvd.so Could you try to open the DVD in "gxine" or "xine-ui" (xine-enabled players) to check if they crash too ? Thanks
i wasn't able to get gdb to run gxine, but it just stops and doesn't respond at the same spot the others crash or in the case of vlc, reports it cannot playback. this has to be something to do with copyright protections, dvds' with copyright protections crash, dvds' without copyright protections play fine.
Can you try choosing the "GStreamer" backend in SystemSetting/Multimedia/Advanced tab ? and checking again ? If it doesn't crash this time, then, that would be the proof that it is a xine-lib bug. Thanks
i don't have a advanced tab there, but in system settings there is a advanced tab. in the multimedia section i have device preference and backend, only thing in back end is Xine and a box for Deinterlacing media.
Indeed, I was referring to the "Backend" tab inside Multimedia. It is weird if you don't have the alternative GStreamer backend... Can you install "libxine1-dbg" and try to get a new backtrace ? Thanks
Created attachment 36899 [details] The application Drogon Player crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT) Teh application crashed when one window open, i try open another file from dolphin.
@Sebastián: your crash is a different one. Please file a new bug report against DragonPlayer. Do not forget to add your GNU/Linux distribution, KDE4 version and the steps in order to reproduce the crash. Thanks!
The bug seems to be a result of crashing in the Xine code, as mentioned above. As of now as Xine is officially not maintained anymore ( http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-announce&m=130744384419151). So I propose the bug to be closed.
Closing.
