Version:            (using KDE 4.2.90)
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

The KDE alt-tab switcher switches windows in recently-used order, however the Kmail Ctrl-tab switcher switches tabs in first to last order. Please either change this to be consistent with KDE's windows switch or make it optional. Thanks.

Note that the whole value of having a keyboard shortcut is to quickly switch between two tabs, no matter how many tabs are open.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
