Description kgw 2009-06-11 13:01:42 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.90)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

When viewing images I always have to switch between displaying the vital EXIF information and the file operation tab because in the new version from KDE 4.3beta these two have been inexplicably put on distinct tabs in the sidebar. This makes operating on the images highly tedious.

I quite agree. In fact what I think makes more sense is to get rid of the tab view and have all sections in one view, but allow each of them to be re-ordered and collapsed via a disclosure triangle. That way people could choose for themselves exactly what they wanted to see, and in what order.

I'd rather apply the standard UI paradigm for this, which is even more flexible as it allows multiple ways to layout. See Bug 196016#c2.

Having all options in a single list gets fiddly very fast, because the click targets are not in a predictable location anymore and you may end up with lots of scrolling for long lists. (Imagine Firefox would do that for its main tab bar…)

We've decided not to go in the direction, sorry. :)
