Version: (using KDE 4.2.90) Installed from: SuSE RPMs There is only one direction to open panels, vertically. Not everyone works well this way. Likewise, mixing and matching vertical with horizontal panes lessens the strain on the eyes. Please re-introduce this feature which Konqueror had so beautifully integrated. Everyone is different and there was a time when Linux was moving in the direction of supporting this fact of reality. Dolphin, to me, represents the opposite. Even Firefox has a simple little extension to do this. For Dolphin to overlook a critical and simple aspect in the interface design is sad. We should get MORE flexibility not less. Thank you.
I missed that there are only two panels possible at once. Please PLEASE restore the functionality here. It has crippled my work routine dramatically! :-(
Thanks for your input. I'm wondering: Why don't you use Konqueror instead? Are there features in Dolphin you miss in Konqueror? Your feedback would be appreciated, as we want to leave 2 applications with a different target audience and Dolphin should not replace Konqueror...
Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was using KDE 4.1 and even Konqueror could only open one pair of panes. You couldn't open a subset within one of the two. I upgraded to KDE 4.2 (with all of its problems!) and Konqueror has the multipanes again.
