Description Yuri 2009-06-07 06:58:23 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: FreeBSD
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports

I use current kde4 on FreeBSD 7.2-PRERELEASE with NVidia 9400GT card, nvidia driver and with compositing type=OpenGL.
Sometimes after window is maximized or resized it becomes black.

Changing composite type to XRender and back fixes the problem for a while.
And then it happens again.

sounds very much like a driver bug :-(

When window sice changes a new pixmap needs to be bound and when the window becomes black it looks like the pixmap could not be bound.

What driver version are you using? Is there perhaps a newer one for freebsd?

I am using nvidia-driver-180.60.
Based on this website: http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html this is the latest version.

you could /try/ the beta driver from here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_185.18.14.html

also, do you have the blur effect enabled and maybe "few" VRAM (compared to your resolution)?

marking as duplicate as same driver version and same problem.
