Version: 0.70.4 (using KDE 4.2.4) Compiler: gcc 4.3.2 amd64 OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages When trying to connect to MSN server, kopete 0.70.4 will fail every time and gives the following message: This means Kopete cannot reach the instant messaging server or peers. This can be because either your internet access is down or the server is experiencing problems. Try connecting again later. Running older version of kopete (the one with KDE3.5) or using Licq, there is no problem to connect to the MSN server, all three uses the same server and port (default). Using other protocols like jabber, icq works, so it's not a question that kopete don't get connection.
The same issue applies to Kopete 0.80.2 with KDE 4.3.3 Have tried with 4 different versions of libmsn with Kopete 0.80.2, and they still seem to generate the same problem (versions of libmsn: 4.0_beta4, 4.0_beta6, 4.0_beta8 and 4.0). When sniffing the traffic, it seems like the msn-server replies with download link for the microsoft-client.
Please try libmsn-4.1
Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
For me this issue can be closed, haven't been using Kopete and not sure I ever got the msn connection to work or not.
Thanks for the update!
