Description Fabian Köster 2009-06-05 11:22:31 UTC
Version:           0.1.0 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

Steps to reproduce:

* Type "google.de" to the address-bar.

=> You see a page saying "301 Moved - The document has moved here."

rekonq should redirect to "http://www.google.de" automatically (as other browsers do).

I personally never enter the (from my point superflous) "www." string in addresses.
Comment 1 Andrea Diamantini 2009-06-07 02:12:10 UTC
I cannot reproduce this bug. It works fine here. I typed "google.de" and was automatically redirected to "http://www.google.de".

Anyway rekonq auto detect the protocol (http) but doesn't change url (google.de to www.google.de). This is a DNS affair. Change your DNS servers and try again.
Comment 2 Fabian Köster 2009-06-07 11:48:30 UTC
I am wondering why this problem does not occur with Konqueror, because I think Konqueror does not change the URL, too.

Which DNS server are you using? I would like to try with it.
Comment 3 Andrea Diamantini 2009-06-08 00:20:17 UTC
I'm using OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 && 208.67.220.220
Comment 4 Fabian Köster 2009-06-08 01:01:01 UTC
I entered your DNS server into /etc/resolv.conf and reqkonq still does show the 301 message.
Comment 5 Andre Woebbeking 2009-07-17 14:32:34 UTC
I've this problem with Konqueror 4.3 RC2 now.

apparently because konqueror uses khtml instead of webkit

could you please check again, I just compiled rekonq and this works perfectly for me rekonq
Version 0.1.9
Using KDE 4.2.98 (KDE 4.2.98 (KDE 4.3 RC3))
Comment 8 Fabian Köster 2009-07-22 14:41:32 UTC
I tried to compile the current git state against KDE 4.2 but it fails with API missmatches like

"undefined reference to `KNetworkAccessManager::~KNetworkAccessManager()'"

Will rekonq 0.2 only work with KDE 4.3?

Maybe I have a chance to compile it using KDE 4.3 later.
Comment 9 Fabian Köster 2009-07-22 15:39:04 UTC
OK, build works for me with KDE 4.2.96 but the address bar seems to be missing in current git.

When I set google.de as the startpage it will correctly redirect to www.google.de

So this bug seems to be fixed..

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 200789 ***
Comment 11 Andre Woebbeking 2009-07-22 16:16:56 UTC
David, are you sure that this is a duplicate? This entry is against KDE 4.2.4, AFAIK before the http slave was broken.
Comment 12 David Faure 2009-07-22 17:25:20 UTC
Oh. OK. Then it wasn't the kio_http bug, but rekonq not handling redirections.
Leaving as FIXED though, according to #9.

We don't differ between RESOLVED and CLOSED in KDE, but if it makes you happy ;)

Actually, I think that is supposed to change: http://files.kde.org/akademy/2012/videos/KDE_Releases_That_Just_Work_-_Jeroen_van_Meeuwen.m4v
