Description Aaron Stromas 2009-06-05 01:35:35 UTC
Version: 3.0 Beta 4 (Sheldon) (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-11-generic

When started, Adept tries and fails to rebuild the index displaying the following:

Updating Xapian index failed. If it does not exist, it will be impossible to search for packages. If it is out of date, package search might be inaccurate.
The error is:
an unspecified problem happened; if you see this message, please report a bug to the maintainer. Context:
    Rebuilding Xapian database.,
    Subprocess terminated with error 1.

This is probably a problem with apt-xapian-index -- its maintainer also says, that this may have been fixed in the meantime, so if you can, please try reproducing with current versions of everything. Thanks!

Greetings!

apt-package claimed I was at the latest version, so I reinstalled everything:

  505 apt-get reinstall xapian-tools
  506 apt-get --reinstall xapian-tools
  507 apt-get --reinstall install xapian-tools
  508 apt-get --reinstall install xapian-core
  509 apt-get --reinstall install xapian*

I'm sorry to inform that when I started Adept and it attempted to rebuild the index, it still failed, as before:

Updating Xapian index failed. If it does not exist, it will be impossible to search for packages. If it is out of date, package search might be inaccurate.
The error is:
an unspecified problem happened; if you see this message, please report a bug to the maintainer. Context:
    Rebuilding Xapian database.,
    Subprocess terminated with error 1.

What else can I do to help you diagnosing this?

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I will be closing this bug.
