QString.toInt should not crash.  What Locale are you using?

Can you copy the Uid: line of your /proc/<bash pid>/status ?

Example:
% ps
  PID TTY          TIME CMD
10122 pts/3    00:00:01 bash
%  cat /proc/10122/status | grep Uid:
Uid:    1001    1001    1001    1001

The Uid line you asked:
