Description Rajat 2009-06-04 15:31:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When you open a file which is of the type, KDE is not aware of with...
i.e. no associated application with that kind of file..
it opens "Open with" dialog...
In this dialog, we have "Search" field,
but it does not work, as it's expected to...
it does not do anything....
It should filter the applications as the user type in the field...
IMHO, it should work in the same way as the "krunner" does (to filter appllications, use other informations too, not only the file name)....

It's my fault too...
I was being lazy to file this bug-report...
since KDE 4.0.0 release...

That textfield on the top is not a search bar, but a place to put your custom command (if you want to open the file with an application it is not listed). You also have a file-open button on the right to select and executable application file too.

If you want to have a search bar (or you can do any better desing proposal for that dialog) you can file a new wish report about it. :)

Thanks!
