I would like to know whether it would be possible to link multiple messages with the same message-id.

Example:
When one has virtual IMAP namespaces, the same email may appear in multiple folders. Currently the user has to click/view the same email multiple times to mark them all as unread.
It would be nice if KMail could notice that I read this message already in another folder and display it as read in all other folders as well.

I think with the new database driven storage in Akonadi, it would be nice addition to view emails and their states in this way, decoupled from the folder or account they may appear in. Other benefits might be that transferring an email from one account/folder to another becomes easier from the application/storage point of view.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.

This issue is fixed in Kmail2.
