Version: (using KDE 4.2.85) Installed from: SuSE RPMs I recently have let my PC for night running some torrents. In the morning simply shut down it. When I came back home and tried to bootup, I go an error in KDM?, that there is no free space left on hdd, and kde couldn't load up. i had to delete some files via console. Not very pleasant way to get to DE. Yes, Its my fault to leave pc with 0 space, but many users could get int to the same situation. My suggestion would be to create an dummy lets say 20mb size file in .kde4 folder, and if user runs out of space just delete itand make some room, boot kde and tell user he is out of space with big error signs etc. :)
somewhat related to bug 81653 as well.
there also should be a way to protect the system from filling up in the fitst place: bug 243160
another related bug is 79943
Makes sense, since otherwise you can't log in to clear out some space!
