Hi,
  There are now zillions (Ok maybe 10) channels on the kicker mixer
applet and many of them have the same tiny icon - for example for
me the 'line' and 'pcm' have the same icon.  I'd like to be able to
change the icon associated with each channel.

The KDE4 version of kmixer uses different icons.
