Description pbda 2009-05-28 22:58:13 UTC
Version: inconnu (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Mandriva Linux release 2009.1 (Cooker) for x86_64)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.29.3-desktop-1mnb

It's possible to configure KDE in order to open directories in dolphin or konqueror with simple click but in file chooser double-click is always needed. It's annoying because double click is sometimes impossible to control by impaired people.

Please could you give an example of what you call "file chooser"? Thanks in advance.
Comment 2 pbda 2009-05-29 14:53:02 UTC
By KDE file chooser I mean the window which is opened in KDE application when you select "Open" or "Save as" in a menu.
Comment 3 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2009-05-29 15:24:05 UTC
It works fine in KDE 4.2.88 (svn trunk, pre 4.3) and on my KDE 4.2 branch checkout. Please note that Mandriva sets double click as default while KDE sets single click as default and I suspect that your bug comes from there.
Please report to Mandriva bug repository, thanks.

Works here in both 4.2.2 in stable 2009.1 and cooker 4.2.88.

pbda, you need to set it to single click in the the kde control centre too for the file chooser to be affected :-) .
Comment 5 pbda 2009-05-29 23:29:26 UTC
Medo, I don't understand. KDE Control Center was in KDE3. I didn't have KDE Control Center in KDE4.
Comment 6 Nicolas L. 2009-05-29 23:44:39 UTC
this is strange here.

I've setup to have simple click. On folderview, konqueror, ... this is on singleclick but when you use KFileChooser ( i hope this is the right name ) i must use double click.

Someone can reproduce ?
Comment 7 Ahmad Samir 2009-05-29 23:54:17 UTC
To comment #5: there's always a kde control centre, it's called systemsettings now, and it's the icon of the crossed spanner and wrench on the panel by default.

I tested again to be sure, it seems to work, I open konqueror>file>open, all directories open with one click...
Comment 8 Nicolas L. 2009-05-30 00:18:23 UTC
this doesn't seems to be a mdv bug because i am with upstream config files right now and i still encounter the issue.

Medo can you explain step by step how you do ? i may be wrong
Comment 9 Ahmad Samir 2009-05-30 00:40:29 UTC
I think I found it. This is a bug in the IaOra-Qt style :s , changing to Oxygen makes it work.
Comment 10 Nicolas L. 2009-05-30 00:50:33 UTC
i use oxygen here and see the bug :/
Comment 11 Ahmad Samir 2009-05-30 02:00:57 UTC
Test case:
- In a fresh user account change from double click to single click in systemsettings
- Open konqueror in filemanagement profile, single click is working properly for folders
- open konqueror>file>open file, click Root in places pane, clicking any of the folders in the window doesn't work with single click
- change to oxygen widget style in systemsettings then try again, it works.
Comment 12 pbda 2009-05-30 08:32:00 UTC
Thank you to find it, medo. It's not only a IaOra-Qt style, it's only working with oxygen style, all others style show the bug.
Comment 13 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2009-06-02 08:40:24 UTC
Nicolas, to test you need to have KDE vanilla settings.
What is the default you have to open files and folders in KFileDialog in that case please?

Is this not a duplicate of bug 181017?
Comment 15 Nicolas L. 2009-06-06 14:32:02 UTC
sorry for the delay.

This isn't a mandriva bug because i reproduce with KDE default config

rm -fr /var/lib/mandriva/* and then start a new user
