Description david 2009-05-28 10:25:03 UTC
Version: 2.0.81 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Kile becomes very unresponsive when a large section of text is being line wrapped.

 - Turned on using "View->Dynamic Word Wrap"
 - Not apparent when only a couple of lines are wrapped.
 - Tested with multiple documents

Just noticed that Texmaker is also affected - possible something's gone wrong with the QT libraries

This sounds like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kile/+bug/361843, or not?

Yep, your write that is the same. But hadn't searched enough, to realise that I was suffering from a serious performance problem related to the whole load of changes which have been made to the graphical sub system.

I followed the instructions on this website - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582 - it's solved a lot of my problems including issues with Kile/TexMaker and Firefox. For reference I used the optimal solution given.
