Description Robert Shaw 2009-05-17 17:42:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I have a two monitor, NVidia Twinview setup:

Left - Monitor 0 : Right - Monitor 1

When trying to configure widgets to be displayed with the screensaver, I can only add them to the left monitor. Additionally, the widgets cannot be moved to the other monitor; moving widgets between monitors on the regular desktop works but not for the screensaver.

When testing the screensaver widget placement, I only had the Analog Clock active most of the time but it appears which widget you are moving is irrelevant.

Can you reproduce using KDE 4.4.4 or 4.5beta?

I can confirm with 4.6 trunk from last week. As the reporter says, widgets cannot be moved between monitors; the cursor will keep moving as normal, but the widget becomes "stuck" just at the edge of the primary monitor.
I would also note for what it's worth that Plasma tooltips do display correctly. i.e. If you drag the analog clock widget to the edge of the monitor boundary (so half is displayed on one monitor, and half is not displayed) and hover over it, the tooltip is displayed correctly across both monitors.

Well, I've figured out the reason for this behaviour, and have gotten it working, more-or-less. However, I'll need more time to fix it The Right Way (TM).

Is this still an open issue?

I haven't been using my second monitor for a while due to driver issues. I will try to check. As to my comment (#4), life got in the way of actually doing anything about it.

You shouldn't have a problem nowdays (using tweenview over here). Do start with a clean xorg.conf, though.
