Also judging from the backtrace this does not has much to do with KGet... what is the way to reproduce?

regarding  Bug 193538  , looks it was fixed in last versions.
Opensuse 11.2 
KGet Version 2.3.3
KDE 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3) "release 3"

At least it doesn't crash now.
