Version: (using KDE 4.2.85) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages Tried with both amarok 2.0.2 and 2.0.90. When trying to set a global shortcut in the amarok Settings->Configure Shortcuts dialog, I get the error message, "The shortcut 'Media Play' conflicts with the following key combinations:" and the buttons "Reassign" and "Cancel". (No combinations are given.) Both buttons fail to actually set the shortcut. I can set the value in systemsettings->Keyboard & Mouse->Global Keyboard Shortcuts, but they don't actually work. Note that this worked fine with amarok 2.0.2 and kde 4.2.3

I don't get why an earlier bugreport gets reported as a duplicate of a new one, you'll have to explain that process to me. Anyway, as i said in the other report, i got this too.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193947 - I submited similar bug, the problem may have the same source, definitely something is wrong with shortcuts.
Works fine for me, maybe this is related to KDE after all (I'm using 4.3b1 on Kubuntu Karmic). Also, I'm using Amarok 2.0.96 (beta 2). Please try upgrading, if you can - or retry when having upgraded.
This is not Amarok specific, but in the shortcut settings of KDE.
@Daniel Sjoholm: I guess I got confused.
Reopening until we check it is fixed
This might be a duplicate of bug 193947: the problem is probably that you have not recognized the "Global Shortcut" column in the Amarok configure dialog; please try to widen the dialog. As long as Amarok has no influence on the dialog layout (especially its width), this looks like a bug/annoyance in kdelibs. > I can set the value in systemsettings->Keyboard & Mouse->Global Keyboard Shortcuts, but they don't actually work. That's odd.. it works for me, too, but would be another bug.
>the problem is probably that you have not recognized the "Global Shortcut" column in the Amarok configure dialog; please try to widen the dialog. I noticed that, and was very explicit about getting the global shortcuts. Note also a couple of things: a) I was using the same configs as in kde 4.2.3, and Amarok was getting/interpreting the global short cuts just fine in 4.2.3 b) I went back to 4.2.3 (the snapshots were abusing my video driver, radeonhd, so badly that the system became unstable) where Amarok magically started working again. I haven't tried 4.2.87 yet to see if this is fixed. I have it compiled, but I've not brought it up yet.
I don't even get an error message - Amarok simply doesn't select anything. E.g., the global shortcut for Play/Pause it set to "Custom", "None". If I click the "Default: Meta+C" radio button, nothing happens - the radio button doesn't get selected.
Problem still exists with amarok 2.1.1, kde 4.2.95, qt 4.5.2, still works fine with amarok 2.1.1, kde 4.2.4, qt 4.5.2 (same box).
kde 4.2.96, even with amarok recompiled, doesn't fix this. Is there any other diagnostic that I can produce (even if it means patching 4.2.96) to help with this?
Setup: Amarok 2.3.2 KDE 4.4.5 Test Result: The bug does not occurs here. It works just fine.
[Comment from a bug triager] @Darin McBride: does the bug still exists in your installation ? Thanks
@Dario - no, I can no longer reproduce with KDE 4.5.4, QT 4.7.1 installed. Thanks.
[Comment from a bug triager] Closing as WORKSFORME. Please reopen if anyone experience this bug again in the future. Thanks
