Description urwald 2009-05-13 14:09:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.3)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

After doing an update from openSUSE 11.1/KDE 4.1 to the new 4.2 repository, moving files to trash was impossible. When trying to do so in dolphin or konqueror, the progress dialog did not show any progress and did never terminate. The process kio_trash was quiete time-consuming.

After removing .local/share/Trash completely (on the console), "moving to trash" is now working on KDE 4 again.

However, when an update causes such a problem, that's bad...

Do you have that problematic .local/share/Trash file?
Comment 2 urwald 2009-05-14 06:01:29 UTC
Sorry, I've deleted it.

However, this is the second computer on which I switch from 4.1 to 4.2, and the first time I had the same problem - so this seems to me like a general problem.

Was the other computer also running openSuse? I'm asking because I had no such problem when I upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 on Kubuntu, so it might be distro-specific.

Yes, the other computer was also running openSUSE.

Seems to work fine in 4.3
