Description Maciej Pilichowski 2009-05-12 13:06:51 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

In SS you can set by how many lines the content should be scrolled on mouse wheel turn. The thing is the minimal value is 1 -- this mean KDE forces user to use the wheel (by accident for example).

This is also a a11y case -- it is hard to buy nowadays mouse with 3 buttons only (without wheel) so user depends on software abilities to disable scrolling.

Small change, but big difference in mouse behaviour.

I just tried to set the "WheelScrollLines" var in the "kdeglobals" file to "0":

Scrolling on KWrite/Kate is properly disabled. However, scrolling on lists (file dialogs, Dolphin) is not disabled but just really slow, like some few pixels.

I guess the "0" option is not enabled because is not really consistent right now.

Dario thank you, I will try to hunt them down then and fill separate bug reports.

Surely the sane way to solve this is to disable the mousewheel at xorg level not to fake it with 0 scrolling in kde apps?

> Surely the sane way to solve this is to disable the mousewheel at xorg level

Because all users like to work the same way?

> not to fake it with 0 scrolling in kde apps?

0 is same "fake" value as 3 lines or 30 lines.
