Description Marc Bohets 2009-05-10 17:35:33 UTC
Version: 1.4.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-11-generic

Hi,

when reading a feed in akregator, I realised that the subject could be interesting for a friend of mine.
It would improve useability of akregator if I could just right click on the subject of the message and select in the context menu an option "send by mail".
When selectin this, a link to this message should be copied in kmail, so I just have to fill in the mail adress of the destination and push the send button to send it to my friend.

Now I have to copy the feed, open kmail, click on new message, paste the feed into the message editor, type the mail adress and send it.

Since kontact is an integrated pim application, this should not be so hard to do I guess. I'm not a developper though.
It would certainly make things easier for users

I think something similar is actually implemented in the version of Akregator that you're using. You can send the URL of an article with "Article" -> "Send Link Address". Or you can send the HTML file of the article with "Article" -> "Send File". These commands will create a new Kmail message with the subject of the message sent to the article title, and include the appropriate data.

Unfortunately, this functionality is not in the right-click context menu, which is where users expect to find it. (eg see also bug #163624)

Are there plans to add it to the right click menu ?
It would make things more user friendly.

Absolutely, merging with another related report
