Description gilap 2009-05-10 14:37:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I'm running OpenSuse 11.1, KDE 4.3.2 release 116

When I go to Personal Settings -> Service Manager I get an error message
"unable to contact KDED" and the service manager window is greyed out with none of the services running

KDED Cookie Jar Module
KSSL Daemon Module
KDED Desktop Folder Notifier
KDED-module for screen Management
KDED Password Module
KDED Konqueror Preloader Module
Solid User Interface Server
KDED Global Shortcuts Server
Sound Policy Server
KDED Flavicon Module
Proxy Scout
KHotkeys
Network Status Daemon
PowerDevil
KDED Remote Base URL Notifier
KDE Write Daemon
KDE Time Zone Daemon
DNS-SD Services Watcher

also when I go to Personal Settings -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Global Keyboard Shortcuts I get an error

Failed to contact the KDE global shortcuts daemon
Message: Could not get owner of name 'org.kde.kded': no such name
Error: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner

Also when I type KDED4 into the terminal I get:

Invalid D-BUS member name 'idle-hint' found in interface 'org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Session' while parsing introspection
Invalid D-BUS member name 'is-local' found in interface 'org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Session' while parsing introspection

Invalid D-BUS member name 'unix-user' found in interface 'org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Session' while parsing introspection
kded(4916): Communication problem with "kded" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." "

I have kdelibs4 4.2.3-116.5, kdelibs4-core 4.2.3-116.5, kdelibs 3.5.10-21.9, kdelibs3-default-style 3.5.10-21.9 installed
