Description Unknown 2009-05-07 20:51:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: MS Windows
Installed from: MS Windows

Sorry for my English :

I tried to install KDE 4.2.2 on Windows XP. Install went fine but there's no kde entry in the start menu, (I precise apps start if manually launched from the bin folder).

I have same problem with older version (4.1 and 4.0).

Is there a service (in KDE Bin folder) to rebuild The KDE entry in Windows start menu ???

(I precise, I have done extensive research on the web before submitting my request on the KDE Bugzilla).

The service is named kwinstartmenu

I also have this problem with 4.3.4, latest installer.
Shortcuts seem to have been added correctly either by playing about with System Settings -> Platform or by disabling UAC.
Vista SP2, 32 bit

And then re-running kwinstartmenu

Running the installation as administrator ( Right click run as admin )
Solves the problem.

Suggested Fix: Add a few lines to the installer, so that it grants itself admin rights at first ( show the UAC dialog to the user [yes or no] ).

this is fixed in revision 1063658 the start menu entries are added to the user start menu instead of the global one
