Description Thomas Capricelli 2009-05-06 20:29:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Until recently, when i started to write an email address in the "To:" field of a new email, mail could autocomplete using my addressbook data.

Not anymore.

It seemed strange, so I opened 'kaddressbook' and (fortunately) all my contacts were still there. I could, btw, copy/paste the one i wanted to write to.

On the right of the "To:" field, there is a button 'select', if i click on it, then the list of contact is very small, and contains mostly addresses that i have used very very recently. Definitely not what is found in my kaddressbook.

I've been using 4.2.2 for almost one month, and 4.2 since it was out and never had this problem. Also i never changed anything in my configuration (i'm too scared of those 'akonadi' stuff and don't want to loose my data).

(i'm often on irc, nickname 'orzel', if that can help, feel free to contact me there)

I'm unable to reproduce this bug using current trunk. Can you try to update to 4.2.4 or to 4.3-rc and try it again. It seems fixed.

I experienced what seems to be the obverse of this report, but is related:
Due to an (unrelated?) knode dependency mismatch that crateree KDE, I did a blanket zypper up and am now at KDE 4.3.80 (4.4.b1-197) with kmail 4.3.80-177.3 and kaddressbook 4.3.80-177.6.
After the initial blanket update, I could send mail just fine and the address completion worked, including "select", but I could not edit or add addresses: kadddress came up with an empty book and could not find or import anything from resource or recent.
Second update to <status given> resulted in kaddress not starting at all. Start in konsole gives no messages. kmail still works fine.
Attempt to update kmail to match kaddress 177.6 give error "not found in repository" even though yast see it in the index.

So, it seems I hit this bug, then went beyond it, but kaddressbook is still not functional in my system.

meh - beg pardon:
system is 64 bit suse 11.1

Updated to kmail and kaddressbook 4.3.80-179.1 - kaddressbook will not start, kmail works fine, all old addresses still there - I hesitate to de-install and do full re-install for loss of email addresses.
