Description Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2009-05-05 21:35:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

It would be great, if Dolphin is able to be awareof folder changes, that it could autoupdate the disk/device space bar which shows how much free space is in the partition where Dolphin is.

So, it could be done whenever a file is moved, pasted, cutted, etcetera. Also, if more than an action is beeing made, dolphin should wait until every operation is done, I guess.

Thanks for the input, I agree. Currently the updates are done by an interval of 10 seconds, but forcing an update after such operations would be better.

You say that current it's update every 10 seconds but for me it's not update. I open new bug for it at this:

I'm still affected by this issue, especially on external devices, in KDE 4.8.1. As you said, forcing an update after a delete/move/copy operation would be a good idea.

This seems to be fixed on Dolphin 2.0, could anyone else confirm? I tested both from different instances of Dolphin, creating something from the Dolphin built-in terminal, and from Konsole.

No, it is not :(

What about using inotify to achieve this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inotify

PS: Found out about inotify reading http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/record-monitor-linux-filesystem-changes-auditing.html
