Description Stephan Sokolow 2009-05-03 08:54:58 UTC
Version: 0.70.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r7-20080501

Every so often, Kopete says "the password was wrong" for my Yahoo account despite my not having changed it and then accepts the exact same password when I retype it.

Having to pointlessly retype it is a big pain, so if the server is saying "bad password", I'd suggest retrying a few times before asking for a new one if it's an auto-reconnect rather than a manually-triggered operation. (Maybe on an exponential back-off over the following five minutes)

Is this still occurring? (Assuming that you've gotten an updated package with the new yahoo login mechanism so that you can actually log in in the first place)
Comment 2 Stephan Sokolow 2009-07-05 13:59:05 UTC
Yes, I can log in, and no, I haven't seen it happen recently, but this is already a horribly intermittent problem (Once every few months), so I can't be sure it's fixed.

Hello from the KDE Bugsquad!

Unfortunately, Yahoo has discontinued the Yahoo Messenger service, and the code has been removed from Kopete.

Thus, I am closing this bug as "UNMAINTAINED" since it will no longer be fixable, or able to operate due to Yahoo.
