Description Mathias Homann 2009-05-01 12:49:45 UTC
Version: 0.70.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) "release 114", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.21-0.1-pae

ever so often (after maybe 30 minutes of being online) my MSN account switches to "offline|blocked" for some reason, and i can't get it back to work with kopete. As soon as i login to MSN with kopete from kde3, or pidgin, or whatever other msn client is available, it works again for some time.

I'm sure if I have the same problem.
MSN in Kopete is on my computer listed as "Online" but my contacts sees me as offline.

When this happens, my contact list isn't updated, so people who logon isn't listed and contacts who log off is still listed.

I'm running KDE4.2.3 on a native AMD64 gentooo installation. libmsn is version 4.0_beta4, I can see a version 4.0_beta5. I'll try that and write a status message here.

i just updated to libmsn 4.0 beta 5, it SEEMS to fix it... 30 minutes online time doesn't really proove anything yet ;)
Comment 3 Mathias Homann 2009-05-13 18:25:22 UTC
after updating libmsn to 4.0b5 this seems to be fixed, didnt happen anymore in several hours.
i shall hint the kde4 maintainers for opensuse to update libmsn.

...it just happened again, with the latest(?) libmsn...

i managed to narrow this down some more, there is a way to reproduce this behaviour.

- connect to MSN with kopete
- set kopete's status to "offline", this will set the status of your msn account to "offline|blocked"
- set kopete online again, it'll reconnect all accounts except MSN

-- workaround: quit kopete instead of switching to offline.

I don't know if that points at kopete or libmsn...

I can confirm this same behaviour with KDE 4.2.3, kopete 0.70.2 and libmsn 4.0b4 on kubuntu jaunty.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Comment 8 Mathias Homann 2018-11-03 04:57:20 UTC
I don't think this is still happening in current kopete, but I've stopped using kopete for now, the current version has worse bugs for me that make it pretty much unusable, so I haven't actually had kopete running for long enough to have this happen...

Thanks for the update!
