Version: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.28-11-generic Bring up Konqueror's Settings > Configure Shortcuts... , scroll or search for "Clear Location Bar". The icon for this is a white x in a right-pointing chunk. But in Kubuntu 9.04 default, the location bar's clear button is a white x in a left-pointing chunk. Bug 183861 '"clear location bar" button missing' suggests that the problem is the location bar no longer has its own clear icon, instead it's relying on the clear icon that's part of KLineEdit.
Those two things are not the same thing. The KLineEdit one is the preferred one which you cannot get rid of even if you want ; so the clear button in shortcut is simply a left over from prior implementation. No reason to fix it since it is a.) no longer necessary b.) button can be placed either to the left or right of the location bar which makes it wrong regardless of how it points. c.) would need to be fixed by the icon designers who would otherwise be spending their time working on something more worthwhile than this issue. Anyhow, you observations are correct, but this is not something that will be fixed in light of the explanation above. Thanks for the report.
