Description Rex Dieter 2009-04-27 20:06:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Downloaded php chm doc from
http://us3.php.net/download-docs.php

attempting to open in okular... hangs. (I waited several minutes).

kchmviewer-4.0 opens this same item almost instantly.

Ah, confirmation, just very slow, in the additional minutes composing this bug, it finally opened.
Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2009-04-27 20:11:36 UTC
I would venture it had something to do with generating the page thumbnails as this document is apparently a whopping 8668 pages long!

Maybe not a use-case worry too much about, unless you want a good chm example for performance profiling. :)
Comment 3 Pino Toscano 2009-04-27 20:14:59 UTC
Okular, due to its page-oriented nature, has to know the number of pages and the size of each beforehand. This means load each page, one by one.
kchmviewer is just a normal HTML viewer which shows the home page of a document when loading it.

.chm support as been dropped from new Okular releases. If it is added back in future releases, a new backend will be implemented rendering this bug outdated. Thank you for reporting.
