Description Jakub Zakrzewski 2009-04-26 01:39:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

In "System settings" -> "Keyboard & Mouse" -> "General Keyboard shortcuts"
for KDE Component = KWin
exists a shortcut for "Kill Window" and its default value is "Ctrl+Alt+Esc".
Actually typing that combination does not work, nothing happens then.
In my case I have to define a custom shortcut, apply settings, select default
shortcut again and apply it again. Now, the default shortcut works.
This happens each time the system is restarted.

Analogously is when I define my custom shortcut. It is not enabled after system reboot.

Works for me in kubuntu 9.04 with kde 4.2.2
Comment 2 Jakub Zakrzewski 2009-05-04 09:45:53 UTC
What I forgot to mention is that it is not working when the Xkb Option "Swap ESC and CapsLock" is enabled.

If this option is disabled - default after system install, it works fine for me too. But when I enable this swap ESC and CapsLock option and try "Ctrl+Alt+Esc" again, then it is not working anymore. After reboot it won't work until I reassign the shourtcut for "kill window".

do other shortcuts with esc work when swapping esc and caps lock?
Comment 4 Jakub Zakrzewski 2009-05-06 03:53:14 UTC
Sorry for such a long answer time,

on one of my computers other shortcut (checked only one available: Ctrl+Esc - show system monitor) works, but on the another Ctrl+Esc doesn't work too. It works after that specific shortcut is reassigned.

Did you check it on your computer? Does the shortcuts work after swapping esc and caps lock?
