Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) Compiler: gcc-4.3.2 OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages I have opened smb://192.168.0.13/project in dolphin, selected some files and dragged them onto kate. I edited them, but at some point my keyboard died and I was forced to log out of KDE and then log back in. After KDE loaded, I opened kate and saw that the document view did not show my files (I was able select them, but the text did not appear - see attached screenshot). This was most likely because kate lost the samba "credentials" and could not read the files. At that point, I selected a "ghost" file and pressed CTRL+W to close it. That was when kate crashed. File -> Close All had the same effect. The problem is solved by editing ~/.kde4/share/apps/kate/sessions and removing the remote files.
Created attachment 33022 [details] kate with ghost files this is how kate looks like after being unable to access the remote files
This should be fixed in KDE 4.4.4. Can you please test again? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 203774 ***
Indeed, it is resolved. Thank you! :-)
