Description Tomasz Dudzik 2009-04-22 21:27:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Slackware Packages

When I put the calendar plasmoid on the panel plasma uses about 25% of my cpu. When I put it on the desktop everything works fine.
Comment 1 Dario Andres 2009-04-24 14:13:13 UTC
If you move the Calendar on your desktop, do you get this high CPU usage too ?
This seems related to bug 187699
Thanks
Comment 2 Tomasz Dudzik 2009-04-24 14:26:42 UTC
Yes, when i move it on the desk from panel, it's still eating about 25% CPU

Since the title matches exactly my problem, although it's not related to having eidgets added to desktop/panel, I will report my problem in this thread

The problem I have is that in kde4.2.2 the plasma process is using a lot of cpu since the kde session is initiated, and seems to use even more after some time.
I have a dual processor 1833Mhz laptop, with 3,2Gb of RAM.

When I logged in in KDE4 session, just at the start, the plasma process was using 37%

Now, after opening a konsole and a firefox, the plasma process is using 80% !!:

Also I notice that the laptop is hot as hell, as it is summer here, and I leave it on my legs :)

It's really anoying the high CPU

If you need any more info, please tell me so

PD: I'm not using any widget in the desktop/panel, and I have disabled all the "compiz-like visual effects"

Thanks for your efforth :)
