I think this is the same as this bug (which has been closed as "REMIND" two years ago ??)

Some jabber clients see blank lines after my messages, other don't. This is espacially true when talking to a MUC (chatroom).

Gajim is one of the jabber client known to show these blank lines, if you want to reproduce it.

Do you have OTR plugin enabled?
